Empowering Stewards for a Greener Future

Willow Park Ecology Centre (WPEC) is located at the confluence of the Credit River and Silver Creek on the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, as well as the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat. We honour the original stewards of this land and strive to follow their legacy of care for the water, land and wildlife.

Built on Collaboration

Willow Park Ecology Centre is a non-profit organization located in Norval, Ontario, within the biodiversity-rich Credit River Watershed. The Centre provides a space and programs for children, teens and adults to connect with nature, fostering environmental stewardship and ecological resilience.

Since its founding in 1998, WPEC has flourished thanks to the support of its volunteer Board of Directors, community partners and grants, the Town of Halton Hills and Credit Valley Conservation. These partnerships have transformed the park into a thriving space for education, restoration and community engagement.

A Rich History of Leadership and Impact

From its beginnings as a decommissioned trailer park to a beautifully restored natural space, WPEC is a testament to community collaboration and environmental vision. During its first 20 years, the Centre educated more than 13,500 students through science-linked programs and engaged thousands of community members through conservation and learning initiatives.

Through education and conservation, the aim is to preserve biodiversity and build sustainable relationships with the environment, guided by Indigenous knowledge and respect for this shared space.

Vision and Values

The vision is to empower a sustainable community living in harmony with nature. Guided by core values of leadership, collaboration, stewardship, and inclusiveness, key representatives work tirelessly to inspire change and protect the environment for future generations.
